Here’s a way you can bring Art to your school!
Not just an entertaining cartoon drawing program, but a step by step sequential method based on over 20 years of tried and true teaching experience. Cordi covers many of the Essential Academic Learning Requirements for visual arts in her workshops, but the kids would never know it! All they will know is that they are seeing a REAL artist creating beautiful pictures before their very eyes and then teaching them how to do the same through step by step lessons.
When we give an assembly we are striving for two things, to teach children to draw better and to have more confidence.
We want every one of the kids to feel good about their art. If they like what they created, they have succeeded. Confidence spells success. One can learn to draw (or do anything) if one has the confidence to try and the ability to recognize progress.
We usually use two metaphors. The 'Bird of Creativity' is for
grades 3-6. It is a program using a parrot on your shoulder that talks negatively in your ear as an example. We change it to the bird of creativity and learn how to draw it together while stopping and giving ourselves and those around us encouraging words.
Our other metphor is a story about a mustang filly that doesn't
think she can run with the herd. Using a power point story with a drawing being done while they listen, they learn ways to
approach a task without talking negatively to themselves or
others. Then the kids draw a horse head along with Cordi,
using their new positive self-talk.
I leave the school library with my 'Easy2Draw Horses" DVD, as well as 2 others which are a $60 value.
